Argentinian tango is a music genre and a couples dans from the early 20th century, with its origins from the immigrant quarters of Buenos Aires. The varied music gives room for expressions of joy, playfullness, teasing, passion, drama and melancholia. Sometimes tango is described as "life in 3 minutes".
A lot of emotions are certainly at the core of tango, and one soon notices that it differs from most other couples dances. Like in all dancing, tango does require technique, feeling and interplay, but opposed to other dances the emphasis is not on determined steps and turns. Instead one learns a number of moves and to clearly lead and follow in these. These moves can then be improvised - based on the music, the atmosphere, the partners actions and how other couples move on the dance floor.
This night you will have an introduciton in the basic steps of tango some of the basic knowledge required to eventually master the Argentinian tango.

In this class for beginners, we work with the basic steps and knowledge that is needed to eventually master the Argentinian tango.
Teachers are Cecilia Carlson from Tango Experimental in Halmstad and Christer Holmberg from Tango Värnamo.
Fee: 750 sek, including membership in Tango Experimental
Already members in Tango Experimental: 600 sek.
Membership gives a discount on all our events.

Last registration date is Sep 14. Announce if you want to attend as a leader (traditionally men) or as a follower (traditionally women). Sep 15 you will know if you've been accepted or not. In this course, we'll be working a lot with the technique in embrace, posture and steps. We'll also adapt new movements and "step frequencies", along with techniques to enrich your tango repertoire. We'll also show you how to use your existing repertoire in milonga and tango waltz. For those who have taken part of a sequels class before, we'll add some to your existing knowledge.
