We have the pleasure to invite to another workshop in contact tango with Karine Grenier from Association Tangible in Paris. The workshop in October last year was much appreciated and gave a craving for more, both with the participants and the leader :)

Karine will be working in the same way as last time, that is with deepening the dance through subtle weight shifts, leanings and counter balances, combined with traditional tango steps. But this time the focus will be on the embrace in tango - the so called abrazo.

"Exploring playful and anchored abrazos" is Karines own description of the workshop. The goal is to create a vivid and improvised tango dance, that lands in an elegant and playful relationship with our partner.

NO PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE IS NEEDED TO PARTICIPATE, AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE TAKEN PART OF THE WORKSHOP LAST FALL.

Contact tango is a choreographic language first developed in 2003 by Edwine Fournier, where tango meets contact improvisation. The difference between contact improvisation and contact tango is a greater focus on tango, and involves the familiar steps in the dance. Less of the time is spent on the floor, although some of the practises might involve that. Focus is on body awareness and a responsiveness towards the partner.

Clothing: comfortable clothes and preferably warm socks to keep feet and ankles flexible.

The workshop will take place without a break, to increase the concentration and the flow. Come with a full belly and satisfactory caffeine levels :)
