Saturday October 15th we invite to a workshop in contact tango led by Karine Grenier from Paris. It takes place at Kulturverket in Onsjö, right outside of Halmstad. (If you miss a car, let us know, and we'll arrange with co-riding!) In the evening we'll meet for a neolonga at Kafé Strandgatan Tjugo. Naturally you can choose to participate in only one of the events.

 

WORSKHOP IN CONTACT TANGO
1.30 - 4.30 pm
(Lunch from 12 pm)
Location: Kulturverket in Onsjö

We will have a visit from Karine Grenier from the dancing company Tangible Association in Paris. Karine will lead a workshop with an introduction to contact tango. We'll explore subtle weight shifts, anchorages, leanings, counter balances and traditional tango steps, to create a vivid, improvised tango dance. We'll settle in a fine and playful relation with our partners and immerse in the dance.

Contact tango is a choreographic language first developed in 2003 by Edwine Fournier, where tango meets contact improvisation. The difference between contact improvisation and contact tango is a greater focus on tango, and involves the familiar steps in the dance. Less of the time is spent on the floor, although some of the practises might involve that. Focus is on body awareness and a responsiveness towards the partner.

Schedule:
12 pm - 1 pm: Lunch
1 pm - 1.30 pm: Registration and lunch. Bring comfortable clothes. Water and fruit is served.
1.30 pm - 4:30 pm: Non stop workshop (to not interrupt the concentration).

 

NEOLONGA
9 pm - 1 am
Kafé Strandgatan Tjugo

We'll be playing mixed music, with about one third of traditional tango, and two thirds of neotango and alternative music. The traditional music will mainly be played in the beginning of the night. The café will be closed, but water and snacks are served.
